This beautiful 65-pound girl is learning that life doesn't have to be about survival anymore.
She is a quiet, gentle, and independent dog who loves being near her people, even if she's still figuring out how to fully trust them. Every day she grows a little braver—learning to walk confidently on a leash, discovering that humans can be kind, and even learning how to play and simply enjoy being a dog.
In the home, she is an absolute dream. She is 100% house trained, can be trusted loose in the house, and has never chewed anything she shouldn't. Her only "mischief" is occasionally carrying a sandal from one room to another. She prefers soft beds on the floor and has never shown interest in climbing on furniture.
She has a sweet, motherly nature and enjoys the company of other dogs. While she hasn't quite figured out how to play with them yet, she clearly appreciates having canine companionship. She has no food aggression, doesn't counter surf, and takes treats with the gentlest touch.
One of her favorite things is rolling over for belly rubs. She loves calm, gentle affection and has never jumped up on people. She has done well meeting men, women, and older children, and isn't bothered by musical instruments or barking dogs. Loud voices that sound like yelling can still frighten her, so she would thrive in a patient, peaceful home where she can continue building confidence at her own pace.
Watching her learn to trust, relax, and experience the simple joys of being loved has been incredibly rewarding. Tika has been eating a lamb dry food diet, with only pure beef treats, her skin is healing beautifully and her fur is growing back quickly, this girl is a real beauty, inside and out!
