Description
Jenkins is a dog who seems to prefer the company of other dogs over people. He is not aggressive towards humans, but he is not interested in cuddling or spending time with them, except for being fed. He enjoys being outdoors and dislikes coming indoors, requiring some coaxing. He is reluctant on a leash and becomes skittish, as if he fears being taken somewhere dangerous. Being part husky, he enjoys playing mind games with other dogs, particularly females, though he does have a few male dog friends. Dogs like him often prefer their own kind and may be selective in their interactions with different breeds. It appears that Jenkins may not have had much human interaction in his early life, and he seems to been the timid one in his litter.
So, basically, he's going to take months to warm up to anyone. However, sometimes dogs like him find a person they just click with. I wouldn't recommend placing him with kids. Although he has never shown any aggression towards kids, because he is more skittish and a smarter breed, the risk of something happening is higher. He would make a good junkyard dog or a dog for a compound. Not because he would actually go after someone breaking in, but he would bark and if paired with another dog who would attack an intruder, he would probably do well in that situation. -words from his foster mama!
