Description
Say hello to Hellen!
Hellen is a wonderful young lady I’ve been fostering for a few weeks now. She was found wandering the streets and needed a safe place to rest, so she found her way to me. Hellen and I have gotten quite close over the last few weeks.
I’ve learned she may have some hearing issues (or she may simply be in her teenage era and choosing to tune out the noises!). Hellen is a very sweet girl who loves to play—with toys and with people. She gets the zoomies in the deep snow when she’s happy. She is learning “sit,” “lay down,” and “stay” very quickly, though we are still progressively working on them.
She has done fantastic with potty training and waits at the front door when she needs out. There have been a few accidents, but through no fault of her own—I was simply too slow. I would say Hellen is a medium-energy dog and would do best with a partner dog to play with, one who could also help teach her proper dog etiquette, as she can be a touch too much for my Frenchie sometimes.
I have noticed the possibility of food guarding, as she will hover over or block the cat from the water dish. However, when corrected, she moves on to something else quickly. She has been good with my dogs and seems to be okay with cats, though she has very high curiosity about them. She follows, barks at, and paws at my cat, which is obviously not ideal, but I believe with time and maturity she will learn manners in this aspect as well.
I unfortunately do not know how she is with kids, as I have none around. Because she is still jumping, I would recommend no children under the age of 12. She loves to snuggle and be close at all times—right now she is my living shadow. She prefers to sleep with her people, either on you, holding you, or being held by you. She does have some kennel training, but she will cry for the first 10 minutes or so before calming down and sleeping.
Hellen has an appointment on the 21st for her first round of vaccines, as well as deworming and her spay. She definitely prefers men to women but loves everyone. ❤️
I believe she may have been abused at one point, as she can be rather timid at first, but she finds comfort with me and with those I’ve introduced her to.
