Albert

Description

Albert has been an absolute pleasure to foster. This sweet old gentleman is all about the simple things in life: cozy naps, leisurely walks, and as many snuggles and pets as you’re willing to give.

Albert is incredibly well-mannered and eager to please. He occasionally tests the furniture rules, but if you tell him “no” once, he almost never tries again. He listens exceptionally well and responds beautifully to gentle correction.

On walks, Albert is a dream. He may pull a little when he’s excited, but a quick reminder is all he needs. He absolutely loves getting out for his daily strolls and can even surprise you with a little trot or run if you encourage him! While he’s not much of a player, he enjoys exploring and taking in the world around him. In fact, daily walks seem very important to him—he gets a little anxious when he doesn’t get out for one.

When first entering a new space, Albert may mark his territory, but once corrected, he doesn’t try again. House manners are one of his strongest qualities—he has never had an accident in our home. He is very good at holding it and tends to use the same corner of the yard when it’s time to go.

Albert isn’t a fan of being kenneled. We tried it for two nights, and on the first day alone he managed to break out! Since then, he’s had free roam of the house and has been a perfect gentleman.

Albert comes with a few charming old-man quirks. One of them is his strong opinion about basements! He happily goes up a few stairs, but our larger basement staircase is a firm “no thank you.” Whether it’s the number of steps or simply a personal preference, Albert has decided basement adventures are not on his bucket list.

This calm, easygoing guy sleeps a lot (old man privileges!) and is content to spend most of his day relaxing near his people. He’s not much interested in toys or rough-and-tumble play anymore, but he does enjoy a good sniff around the neighborhood and the occasional little run during a walk.

He’s been gentle and sweet with kids and has shown no reactivity toward other dogs. On a recent walk, another dog barked at him and Albert was completely unfazed—just curious and relaxed.

If you’re looking for a loyal companion who is affectionate, well-behaved, low-maintenance, and full of charm, Albert might just be your perfect match. He’s the kind of dog who quietly steals your heart and makes every day a little brighter.
